5 Fat Burning Superfoods
There are 5 fat burning superfoods in particular that I love and are excellent in helping your body's ability to burn fat and lose weight. A lot of women are struggling with the same issue; they are increasing in the waistline and decreasing in the self-confidence category. Thankfully we can eat fat burning superfoods that can literally change our bodies, our health and our life.
It’s time to turn the table and decrease the waistline and increase your self-esteem by simply adding these powerful foods to your meals and snacks.
Whole Eggs

Whole eggs are one of the most nutritious powerhouse foods you can eat...yolk included! In fact, the yolk is where most of the vitamins and minerals are in the egg. It contains more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosporus, zinc, thiamin, B6, B12, folate, and panthothenic acid of the egg. Plus contains all of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, K and E in the egg. I'm sure you can see how awesome it is to eat the yolk!
And when our body gets the nutrients it needs, you're going to naturally prevent yourself from overeating and feel satiated till your next meal. And from a a fat loss stand point, this leads to a reduction in calorie intake which stimulates the use of stored body fat as energy.
If you can, it is best to buy eggs through a local farmer. You'll not only know what the chickens are fed and how they are raised, but typically buying local saves money as well. It may not be as hard as you think to find fresh eggs locally. In my experience, I buy from a couple friends who are not farmers but do raise their own chickens. If you want to buy from a store, organic free range eggs are a great option.
Avocado

Avocados are rich in monounsaturated fat, which is easily burned for energy. This creamy fruit is considered a “healthy” fat. They are great on salads, omelette's, homemade guacamole, or purred into a dip or spread.
I used to avoid eating as much fat as possible thinking that’s how I’d lose body fat. Boy was I totally wrong! I’ve learned that our bodies need healthy fats every day in order to lose fat. Good fats also help us control our hunger, stabilize hormones and keep us feeling full longer.
Sweet Potato

Sweet potatoes are a powerful carbohydrate that can be added to a regular healthy diet in order to experience increased fat burning benefits. However, sweet potatoes don't just help you trim your waistline. They're powerful sources of Vitamin A, which helps boost immunity and promotes good eye and skin health. You can boil or bake them, make your own sweet potato fries, cubed hash browns and season with a little organic butter and cinnamon.
Berries

If I had to recommend one type of fruit to someone wanting to lose fat and improve their health, my answer is berries. Blueberries, raspberries, cranberries and strawberries to name a few, are some of the healthiest fruits. They are low on the glycemic index when compared to other fruits. Meaning eating them can add sweetness to your day and won't spike your blood sugar as high -- which will help prevent fat storage.
They are also densely packed with a variety of nutrients and are rich in fiber. This helps slow down sugar absorption, which in return makes you store less fat and also helps reduce cravings and over eating. Try to buy organic or go pick your own from a local farmer that sells them. Freeze some for smoothies, throw on top of oatmeal or a greek yogurt, or just eat them as is!
Wild Salmon

Wild salmon is very high in omega-3 and a great source of protein. We have to get our omegas from food because our body can't make them on its own. When your body is deprived of important essential fats like omega-3’s your metabolic rate slows down, so you can’t burn calories as efficiently. In fact, weight gain is one of the symptoms of omega-3 deficiency.
Wild Alaskan Salmon seems to be one of the lowest risk seafood for contamination. Mercury, pesticides and other pollutants have become a widespread issue for seafood. And choose wild salmon, not farm-raised.
Can’t stand to eat fish but would really like to increase your omega-3 intake? You can eat other foods high in omega 3 or best bet is to get it through supplementation from omega-3 fish oil or even more effective, a high quality krill oil.
Start incorporating these five power foods on a regular basis and not only will it help you lose fat but it will make you feel a lot better too!

Any nutrition advice that encourages avocado consumption is my kind of advice! :) Thanks, Laura!
Haha I couldn’t agree more Kara :) I definitely love me some avocado!
I eat all but one of those items. But question. How do i get ovacado in. I love them and used to eat them all the time but there not doing so hot this year. There very expensive so i stopped buying them. I buy guacamole to add to things in order to get some avacado but thats about it.
That’s great to hear you’re already incorporating those foods Becca! Avocado prices do vary throughout the seasons, but also from store to store. Have you tried shopping for them at different stores to price match? I know for me, Aldi is usually the best bargain. But sometimes they go on sale other places! Just have to keep an eye out. I add it to lots of things like my eggs, smoothies (makes it creamy & you don’t taste it), mexican meals, mash it and spread on sprouted grains or gluten free toast or sandwich, anything!
